This coming August I’ve planned a trip to New York City to finally see the famous landmarks. I cannot wait. The last time I was In New York, I was looking for a prom dress at the tender age of 17. That was before my travel bug really hit me and so I didn’t care too much about going out and actually exploring the city. I just wanted to shop.
Well, fast forward 10 years later and I’m dying to go back and really discover what the city has to offer. It’s always tough to find places to stay in New York City though from what I’ve heard and read because it’s just so damn expensive!
For anyone that reads this blog, you know that I’m not necessarily a ‘budget’ traveller. I don’t always (or ever really) have enough money for 5 star hotels, especially in a place like New York City but I always look for comfort and luxury that I can afford.
A hotel stay can make or break your trip. I’ve had very few bad hotel stays thankfully but it’s a terrible feeling knowing you don’t want to sleep somewhere. That’s why I always make sure to research a hotel before going to stay and see what real people are saying about it. I think that’s almost more important than the price.
However, the element of hotel research that comes very close to personal reviews for me is the location. If I don’t have to waste money travelling back and forth from major landmarks or attractions it’s worth spending that little bit extra. I’ve put together a list of areas in New York City with hotels I would ideally stay at in the area.
Central Park
I love nature, clearly. Being located close enough to walk over easily to Central Park is an ideal state for me. The Park Central New York Hotel looks like a great stay for that reason. Located on the southern part of Central Park the luxurious hotel definitely looks like it be a comfortable stay.
Theatre District
I can’t believe I still haven’t seen a Broadway show. This is on my bucket list of things to do and where else would be better to do this than in New York City? The London NYC Hotel is great for that reason as it’s located to a few of the cities biggest theatres.
Grand Central Terminal
This may sound a bit lame because we have a similar building in Toronto (Union Station) but there’s something romantic and magical about the Grand Central Terminal in New York. The building has appeared in so many movies and TV shows, I would love to feel as if I’m brushing shoulders with celebrities. The Roosevelt Hotel exudes luxury and elegance, perfect for rounding off that feeling of celebrity!
Empire State Building
Never saw this during my last trip either! I know, terrible. It will definitely be on the list for my upcoming trip. 70 Park Avenue Hotel is located very close to this iconic building. The rooms look really comfortable and modern too!
