I have a confession … I’m terrified of flying. Not to the point where I need to be heavily medicated before I go (although sometimes I do think that would be a great option). But usually a week before I travel anywhere long distance I have trouble sleeping. I have nightmares and have a nervous knot for a solid 36 hours before I fly.
Today is no different. I was wide awake at 1am, then again at 3am then finally at 5am when I finally got out of bed. Not to mention the stomach knots that won’t seem to go away.
They say you’re likely to be killed on the way to the airport than in a plane. Sure. Doesn’t make me feel much better though. Especially with the seemingly recent increase in plane crashes.
Yet, I’m still giddy with excitement about my trip tonight! In less than 24 hours I’ll be in London, England!
I’ll try and post as often as I can while I’m away. Be sure to check out my Instagram as I’ll be updating that frequently!
Share your fears of travelling with me I would love to hear them, or more so know that as an avid and lover of travel I’m not alone in my irrational fear!
I share your fear of flying even though my husband works in the airline industry and constantly reminds me about how safe planes are and the statistics of getting in a crash. I think the recent disaster in France has made it even worse. Still, I love to travel and see new places, so I grab a pre-flight cocktail or two and suck it up. Safe travels!

Oh my goodness I can totally relate to this! I have travelled a good deal in my life, but I STILL get super nervous before every single flight! I always have to be prepared with a million things (movies, books, crosswords, iPad games, etc) to occupy every second of the flight. No matter how tired I am, I’m always too anxious to sleep. Enjoy your trip!!

I hate to fly! I do get meds in order to fly but yes I generally get sick to my stomach the morning before a flight. Hate it!

I’m the same way – download as many movies and tv shows as I can! I can rarely ever sleep. I was once on a 16 hour flight and didn’t sleep one wink. Thanks for the well wishes!

[…] Yes, I know ironic this is but I am absolutely, positively beyond terrified of flying. Any bit of turbulence, strange noise or slight stress of a flight attendant and I get convinced we […]
