The Absalon Hotel reflect Copenhagen perfectly in my opinion; the modern and edgy interior design, delicious food and comfort. There’s a reason why this hotel gets nearly perfect scores on TripAdvisor by travelers. It really wasn’t hard choosing the Absalon Hotel to stay at during our weekend stay in Copenhagen.
The original Absalon Hotel was founded in 1938 with only 11 rooms. Still as a family business, the hotel underwent renovations recently and reopened with 161 rooms and suites. With a mission to “deliver good experiences”, the hotel and its staff wants to make sure you enjoy your stay so much you’ll want to come back. Mission accomplished.
As you walk into the lobby of the hotel you can’t help but feel like you’re somewhere cool and edgy. The hotel staff greet you on their new computers, happily and in English. I particularly loved the life-size telephone booth located in the lobby right by the elevators.
Walking distance to everywhere
One of the best things about the Absalon Hotel besides its decor is its location. If you’re travelling in from the Copenhagen Airport it’s a quick train ride to the Central Station. From there, you should walk to the end of the platform and up the open-aired staircase. Once on street level you are a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Yeah, you read that right a 3 minute walk.
In terms of major attractions the Absalon Hotel is close to a lot of them but closest to the Tivoli Gardens. Well actually it’s close to basically everything but you could basically throw a stone from the hotel to the Tivoli Gardens so I guess that qualifies it as closest. There are also a lot of really great restaurants located near by like Madklubben or the popular Mikkeller bar.
Fill your boots
If there’s anything I love more than a good nights sleep, it’s free breakfast. Correction, it’s a free breakfast buffet with unlimited coffee. I think of all the places I’ve stayed in Europe and of all the hotels I’ve been to, I’ve never had a better breakfast than at the Absalon Hotel.
Set up on two giant tables, you’ll find a wide collection of fresh breads, meats, cheeses, juices and pastries. I couldn’t get enough. If I wasn’t in a new city with lots of different places to explore I probably would have stayed there for a lot longer than I did.
Affordable luxury
I’m like the next person when it comes to spending my money. I’m reasonable but I want as much for as little as possible. I found the Absalon Hotel was that happy medium. It felt like a 5 star hotel, it looked like a 5 star hotel but it had the price of a 4 star.
We stayed in one of the Superior rooms. The room had heated flooring in the bathroom with lights that changed colours! The view from our bedroom was also unreal. We looked right over some of the nicest rooftops and on a sunny day that view was even better.
