Located in Somerset, just outside of the Cotswolds resides one of my favourite cities in England. Bath is most well-known for its Roman-built baths. and architecture. Inside the city you will also find a modern Thermae Bath Spa which has the only natural spring in England that you can bathe in.
While we only visited Bath for a day, and during the pandemic, I saw enough of this metropolitan city that will make me want to go back again soon.
It was easy enough to get to while we were staying in the Cotswolds and because we visited on a weekday we easily found free parking in the city. Bath is also an easy day trip from London, an hour and a half by train or there are plenty of tour companies that offer trips.
Once parked, we took some time to just get lost in the city and wander around. I’ll admit we also did some shopping as well along the pedestrian streets.
In total it took us about 4 hours to walk around the city. I’ll admit we didn’t see and do everything the city has to offer but a lot of that is because most things were shut or operating at very limited capacity while we were there. In fact there are a lot of museums, galleries, festivals, and most importantly spas to take advantage of during your visit.
One thing I wish we had done on our trip to Bath is a walking tour. I always find walking tours the best way to see a city and learn about it at the same time. Often we find ourselves wandering through a city not really understanding or knowing the significance behind certain buildings or streets. I can imagine how much history Bath has so this would have been a really good thing to do.
