When we were planning our trip to Greece, it was so hard to choose where we wanted to go. Naxos seemed like the perfect place to stop in between Santorini and Mykonos. It was quiet, calm and had the most options for places to stay (outside of the big two).
Upon arriving I wasn’t sure what to expect. There wasn’t too much documentation on Naxos as most people chose to visit Paros instead. I actually kind of liked that though because it allowed us to venture and discover the island on our own. It was more than I would have expected.
As much as we would have loved to sit and lay by the beach, the weather wasn’t cooperative so the full day we had there we rented an ATV and went exploring. I was surprised with how many amazing photos of Naxos we were able to get just touring around. The ATV rental was 40 Euro for the day and it was money definitely well spent. Plus once you got out of the main city, the roads were pretty bare so it made the trip more enjoyable.
As we ventured through the island we went up mountains, through fields and discovered some gorgeous ruins. I would definitely recommend getting a map of the island because it’ll make it so much easier. The ATV rental place we went to actually gave us directions of where to go and what to see on our tour around the island which was awesome because we didn’t have to worry about it.
On our last day we explored the old town which surprised me. The twists and turns in the small alleyways were gorgeous. I also loved how many cats there were just roaming around, they were so cute!
