When I first looked up Malta and started seeing photos of Comino Island, I just knew I had to get there. The crystal blue water that sparkled in the sun was something made from dreams.
Located just outside of the main island it’s a short ferry ride from Valletta. It’s also a must-see destination. It’s super small so you don’t have to worry about spending too much time here. A day or even half a day would be plenty for you to see everything you would need to.
During our trip we booked a tour which took us from our hotel in Valletta to the Comino Island and then onto the Gozo Island. It was the perfect way to see as much as we possibly could have in a short amount of time.
On the island
An important note about the Comino Island is that it can get very crowded. Because there are so many tours that lead into the island you want to make sure you get there earlier than most other boats. Double check with your tour company to compare who arrives when. Our boat was probably one of the first ones there and already the beach was pretty full up.
Because you will likely be swimming you can rent lockers to put all of your valuables. This way you don’t have to worry about it while you’re out in the water. I can see how easily something could get stolen here because the beaches are so crowded.
If you are looking for relaxation
Before going definitely check the weather. This is not a place you want to be stranded on when it’s raining or worse. There is very little shelter once you’re actually on the island. We were lucky enough to have gotten a sunny day which make our photos of Comino Island all the better!
The photos of Comino Island make it a pretty easy destination to add to your Malta bucket list. I only wish we traveled around the island a little more to get some other shots!
